How to Create a Chat App

Once you are on chat plugin screen, you’ll see four cards (Create, Manage, Connect, Publish – Shown below), you have to click on the create card.

Now you have to follow few simple steps to configure chat plugin in an app.

1.→ Choosing OS           2.→ Choosing App           3. → Click Continue           4.→ Set Configuration

Case 1: Creating chat app in one OS (Android or iOS)

Case 2: Creating chat app in two OS(Both Android & iOS)

Case 1: If you wants to make a chat app in only one platform, you could select any app which is not ever selected before and click on 'Continue’ button to apply chat configuration on it. The apps which have been selected before will be disabled & you would not be able to select them, however you would be able to edit their configuration(Chat Settings).

Case 2: If you wants to make a chat app in both android & iOS, then select each (android & iOS) app in drop-downs. You could select both new apps or you could select one app for which configuration (chat settings) has already been set, but other app should be selected first time, so the new app will be binded with the old app & will adapt its configuration also.

After choosing the app, click on 'Continue’ button to set configuration.

Authentication method in Chat Application

Authentication

a.) You could choose the chat type Authenticated or Non- Authenticated method, if you click on 'Authenticated’ option then you will get all the three options (Friends Chat-Default, Groups, Chat Rooms) to chose from, shown below it.

                    i.) Friends – This check-box is marked & disabled. It means that in this chat plugin the simple chat with friends is default feature & cant be turned off.

                    ii.) Groups – By marking this check-box, you are allowing the groups functionality in your chat application.

                    iii.) Rooms – By marking this check-box, you are allowing the chat rooms functionality in your chat application

b.)If you select 'Non- Authenticated’ then you will only get 'Chat Rooms’ as an option for your Chat application.

c.) In regard to your Authentication method, you could choose 'Self’ option or 'Mego’ option.

                    i.) Self – It means that you want you impley your own authentication method in your app for your front end users.

                    ii.) Mego – if you selected this option, that means you want to use Mego User pluguin for registration of your front-end users. Mego have two modes of registration, Standard & Custom. In Standard mode there will be few options provided & in Custom mode you could choose the registration, verification & profiling methods.

Using 'Groups’ & its settings

To activate Groups in your Chat Plugin you have to select chat type as Authenticated & mark the 'Groups’ check-box under 'Authentication’ tab

To set the maximum number of group & maximum number of people allowed in a group for an chat application, you have to set these values under 'Profile’ tab as shown below.

Using 'Chat Rooms’ its setting

To activate chat Rooms in your Chat Plugin you have to mark the 'Rooms’ check-box under 'Authentication’ tab

You can set multiple chat rooms & can enter the name & icon of all the chat rooms from 'Profile’ tab as shown below

To set the attributes of chat rooms go to 'Profile’ tab as shown below.

Using 'Broadcast’ its settings

Broadcast feature is already activated in your Chat Plugin, but you have to set the maximum number of Broadcast & maximum number of people allowed in a Broadcast for an chat application, you have to set these values under 'Profile’ tab as shown below.

Selecting a theme in Chat Plugin

To select any theme for your chat application, go to 'Theme’ tab & select any theme. Before selecting the theme you could preview the theme images.

You could change the color of your theme & could see the preview accordingly.

Features allowed in Chat App

Message

Message – Message option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Online Chat – This option will be marked & remain disabled as online chat is a default feature.

            ii.) Offline Chat – This feature means that end-user could receive messages when come online after offline state.

            iii.) Broadcast Message – This feature means that end-user could create broadcast list to send message to multi contacts, each contact will receive the message as the sender has sent that message only to him.

            iv.) Unread Messages (count) – This feature means that end-user could see the count of unread messages in the chat.

Status

Status – Status option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Offline Online Status – This feature means that end-user will have the offline/online status & other end users could see it.

            ii.) Last Login Status – This feature means that end-user could the last login time of other end-users.

            iii.) Typing Status – This feature means that end-user could see if other end-user is typing something while chatting with him.

            iv.) Block – This feature means that end-user will have the option to block any other end user.

            v.) Hide – ??

History

History – History option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Status History – This feature means that end-user will see the list of status he’s kept on his profile.

            ii.) Chat History – This feature means that end-user will see the chat history.

            iii.) Group History – This feature means that end-user will see the Group chat history.

            iv.) Room Chat History – This feature means that end-user will see the Room chat history.

Emoticons

Emoticons – Emoticons could be activated or disabled from 'Features’ tab as shown below

Settings (Notifications, Privacy, General & data)

Notifications – Notification option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Sounds – By checking this option end-user will get an option in his app settings to On/Off the sounds for notification.

            ii.) Vibration – By checking this option end-user will get an option in his app settings to On/Off the vibration for notification.


Privacy – Privacy option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Receive Message From – This feature means that end-user will see the options to select that who can send them messages.

            ii.) Show Display Pic to – This feature means that end-user will see the options to select that who view his/her display pic.

            iii.) Show Online Status To – This feature means that end-user will see the options to select that who view his/her online status.

            iv.) Blocked Contacts – If this features is marked, then front-end user will get an option in app settings to view the blocked contacts.


General – General option under 'Feature’ tab provide below options

            i.) Set Wallpaper – This feature means that end-user will see the options to set the wallpaper.

            ii.) Font Size – This feature means that end-user will see the options to set the font size of chat.

            iii.) Clear All Conversations – This feature means that end-user will see the options to clear all conversation.

Media types Allowed in Chat


Media types Allowed in Chat – You could allow the file type & size of media files which could be sent while chatting. This feature could be accessed from 'Media’ tab under configuration.

Rights

Rights – Rights of front-end users could be configured from 'Advanced’ tab under configuration

      Group Rights

            i.) Create – This features means end user will have rights to create new group.

            ii.) By marking this check-box, the end-user will have the right to leave the group.

      Group Admin

            i.) Add - These are shown check-marked & disabled because these check-marks cant be un-checked. This feature means that the group admin will have right to add new member.

            ii.) Remove – By checking this checkbox the group admin will have the right to remove any group member.

            iii.) Auto – By checking this checkbox, the End-user will get the option that if Group Admin leaves the group then the second member added in group will automatically become Admin.

      Group Type – There are three group types

            i.) Open – This is the simple group type, in which if group’s admin add some member, he’s added & any member could leave the group without any restriction.

            ii.) Register – In this type of group a group admin creates the group & he have to send joining request to the members he wants to join the group those members could accept or decline the invitation of joining this group.

            iii.) With Approval – In this type of group a front-end user will see all the groups created by his contacts & the front end user could send a request to join any of those group. The group admin will see all the requests & could accept or decline the request.

How to Manage your Chat Apps

As soon as you save a configuration for an app, you’ll be redirected to the app listing page(as shown below) from where you could manage the chat applications.

Also you could click on the Manage card shown on this screen to go to the manage page of chat plugin

Editing the Chat app configuration

You could easily edit the configuration of a chat application, you have to go on Manage page & select the chat app using the check-box, which you want to edit & then click the edit icon (as shown below). Your chat app’s configuration will open in edit mode.
